“Derby Cross and Schooling Jumper Show”

7:00 PM BYOB Pizza Party and Awards

9:00AM Juniors – 10:30AM Everyone Else

A 9:00AM start for juniors, 10:30AM start for all other riders. The Derby Cross is designed to be a fun, low-key, confidence-building event.

The Derby Cross Schooling Show will take place on the lower and upper fields of Sporting Days Farm.

The event is designed to showcase the speed and accuracy of show jumping, combined with the bravery and endurance of cross-country, in a spectator-friendly atmosphere.

The SDF ‘Derby Cross’ courses will accommodate riders at four levels. Courses run on natural terrain and incorporate existing Foxhunter, Hunter, Eventing, Show Jumping fences, obstacles and combinations typically encountered.

Levels Start at Beginner Novice (up to 2'7") and go up to Preliminary (up to 3’7”). The number of elements will vary in each division. Each division will have a junior class. Always a favorite, classes for teams of two or three horses/riders are also included.

To avoid wait times, riders will not be scheduled according to division. All four courses will be pre-set, affording riders of different levels to compete throughout the day. Scores will be posted and Awards distributed at the 7:00pm BYOB Pizza Party in the Palmetto Pavilion.

Courses will be measured.  Speeds for optimal time completion will be posted by 9:00 a.m. on the morning of the event and on web site; www.SportingDaysFarm.com. Competitors will be scored based on clearing the various fences/obstacles, with penalty points assigned for refusals and rails. In the case of a tie, the horse/rider combination closest to the optimal time will win.  Falls or 3 refusals is mandatory retirement from the course.  Permission to compete again after elimination will be granted on a case by case review and after a to be determined amount of time

Derby Cross competitors are required to wear USEA medical armbands, collared polo shirts; breeches, jodhpurs, riding boots and ASTM/SEI approved safety helmets. Cross-country safety vests are strongly recommended.
