Dear Past
Volunteers,
There is
no way we can thank you enough for your many hours of
service to our sport and history. So many of you have been
positive and upbeat even in the face of challenges. We
THANK YOU From the Bottom of our Hearts for all you have
done.
We can
always use more volunteers! Your help would be wonderful.
We have positions in Warm Up Dressage, XC & Stadium,
In Gate Dressage, XC & Stadium, Scoring,
Scribing for Dressage and or Stadium, XC Fence
Judging, Safety Officer for XC,
Parking, & Awards. We can also always use help with
Pre-event Set-up if you aren't able to help during the
event, but want to get involved.
Volunteers are invited to a Reception Prior to the Event. A
lunch is provided for all volunteers regardless of the shift
and something else - info will follow sign up.
We had a
request from a fence judge that it would be helpful to read
the Guidelines for Fence Judges prior to check-in. What a
GREAT idea, so here is the info!
Guidelines for Fence Judges AND Dressage Scribe
Helpful Hints . I hope to get more educational information
for volunteers posted here in the future, but in the
meantime, you may find useful info at the
United States Eventing
Association website.

This has been
another busy, but fun year at Sporting Days Farm. Numerous
SDF Elves kept everything looking trim and neat over the
summer. We cannot thank Ann, Pam, the 2 Michelles, Jane,
Cameron, Dave, Tom, Barbara, Becks Well Service, Derrick
John Deere who are some of the few who kept things literally
working. This fall we hosted our Chamber of Commerce in the
Pavilion with Side Saddle exhibitions and music thanks to Jo
Santay’s very kind husband. We really enjoyed sharing time
with local horsemen and businessmen. Our Aiken County Pony
Club Christmas party brought our year to an end. Now we look
forward to 2010 sharing time with our friends and
volunteers, which brings us to the reason for our letter
--we hope you will join us once again at one or all of our
activities. See our calendar and make plans to play,
volunteer or just watch the fun with us.
Sporting Days
Farm is excited to announce the arrival Mike Bonham and his
family who will be living on the property, training and
teaching as well as assisting us in many ways. They come to
Aiken from Missouri. Their son, ‘Chester’ competes in Jr.
Jumpers and attends Aiken Prep and their daughter, Kelse won
the USEF National Medal Equitation finals 2 years ago and
now is on the Equestrian Team at Savannah School of Art and
Design. We welcome back the visiting competitors to the SDF
Association farms as well as the Kristin Schmolze team with
9 horses in training, who are all here for the Eventing
season. They will be competing in the area, as well as many
pointing for Rolex. Congratulations Kristin on your clear at
Fair Hill.
We are busy
working on our Cross Country Course designed by our new
designer, Greg Schlappi of NC and assisting the
Montmorenci Volunteer Fire Department in furthering
development of the resources they need to adequately provide
Fire and Rescue Protection to this area and all of Aiken
County when called upon. And, finally we proudly announce
our beloved secretary, Mary Coldren, was voted one of the
top 10 USEF Secretary’s in the country and all disciplines
were considered!! How about that!!! Hope to see you soon.
